The sealed, fixed-lens system prevents dust contamination and eliminates the need for additional zoom or wide angle lenses, making it an easy-to-use, affordable alternative to the complex DSLR system.

Features born from Face Detection Fujifilm’s innovative face detection technology, recognized with a 2007 'Best of What’s New Award' from Popular Science Magazine, has enabled a number of advanced features that advanced consumer photographer will enjoy. Face Detection operates by identifying and prioritizing up to 10 faces in a framed scene and then adjusting the focus and exposure accordingly to ensure the sharpness and clarity of human subjects in the picture, regardless of background.

After the shot is captured, the automatic Red Eye Removal feature instantly checks each detected face for red eye and if it’s found, corrects it in the camera automatically, saving the time-consuming process of fixing it in your PC after the image is downloaded. A new Instant Zoom function captures moving subjects at high zoom settings. After zooming on a subject, a single button gives an additional 1.4x or 2x digital zoom at the center focus region of the frame. Zoom Bracketing performs a similar action using Fujifilm’s face detection technology to lock its zoom action on a subject’s face automatically as it enters the shot.

Zoom Bracketing For fail-safe portraits or active zoom snapshots, a convenient Zoom Bracketing function automatically records the same image three times with zoom ratio settings of 1x, 1.4x and 2x at a single release of the shutter.

When function is activated, three frames are previewed in the viewfinder at 1x, 1.4x and 2x. In 10-megapixel mode, 1.4x frame is captured at 5M; 2x frame at 3M.

It's actually lighter than Canon's EF 600mm f/4L IS lens, weighing just under 10 lbs. It uses a refined optical design, with two fluorite lens elements, one UD element, and one Super-UD-glass element, for outstanding correction of color fringing and superb contrast and sharpness. This super-telephoto lens uses magnesium-alloy barrel construction to enhance its light weight, and has weather-resistant gaskets throughout for use in harsh conditions. It's compatible with both the EF 1.4x II and 2x II tele extenders for even more reach: EOS cameras with 45 AF points will continue to provide autofocus at the center AF point when the lens is used with the 1.4x extender. Finally, it's image stabilized, providing up to 4 stops of correction for camera shake. This makes it even more practical in many situations.

This is the first EF lens to employ both a replicated Aspherical lens element to suppress distortion and spherical aberration, and a UD lens element to correct lateral chromatic aberration. Thanks to the floating construction, excellent corner-to-corner delineation is attained from 10 in. (25 cm) to infinity.
That f/1.4 is not a typo--this is the fastest ultra-wide-angle lens in the world. The first EF lens to combine Aspherical and UD Ultra-low Dispersion glass L-series optical technologies, the 24mm f/1.4L provides outstanding sharpness and contrast even wide open. It focuses down to 10 inches/0.25m, and the AF is what you'd expect from a professional Canon lens with USM—fast and silent, with smooth full-time manual focus available at any time.

Wide and Fast
If you need an ultra-wide angle and a large aperture, one of the following lenses will fit the bill. Ultra-wide-angle lenses can capture scenes beyond your natural field of vision. The EF 15mm f/2.8 Fisheye, the widest of them all, has a 180° angle of view. For more normal-looking wide-angle shots, there are longer wide-angle lenses up to 35mm with the maximum aperture you need.
Canon EF Autofocus Lenses Canon s reputation for excellence in optics has been well established for years. And with the introduction of EF lenses for the EOS, it s only getting better. EF Lenses have the largest diameter mount of any 35mm camera, which not only strengthens the whole system, but permits optical innovations never before possible. Its rear focusing design maintains a constant lens length and the front doesn t rotate, making it easier to use special effects filters and the bayonet mount lens hood.
